2025 Spring Champions - ATX Thunder

The 2025 Spring season wrapped up with a strong 3 game series between the Mudcats and the ATX Thunder, concluding on August 17th, 2025. The ATX Thunder took games 1 and 3 to finalize their championship winning season. The series was a strong showing of the talent present in the CTBL. Both teams gave their best effort across 28 innings of fun and energetic baseball.

There were so many standout players across this 3-game set, but it took the entire group together to close it out and become champions. The Thunder consistently rose to the moment and capitalized in key moments time and time again. This group certainly let the bats do the talking, as they scored a total of 37 runs across this 3 game series!

The 2025 ATX Thunder were led by Manager Peter Creamer, who also closed out the final 3 innings of game 3 on the mound! Congratulations Peter Creamer and to all the players on the ATX Thunder!

2024 Fall Championship - Austin Baseball Club (ABC)

The 2024 Fall season wrapped up on 17 November as the ABC won 4-3 over the Rays an instant classic.  The ABC team was a mix of ballplayers from ABC, Reds and Rangers. Eli Manzo and Clay Lenaburg co-managed the team, finding the right recipe with this mix of ingredients.

Tim Harris led his Rays to their second straight Fall Ball championship game berth and put together a solid mix of Rays, draft picks and Thunder players, gelling down the stretch. The Rays reached the finale by winning with a last-inning run against the Chupacabras, a hard-fought 3-0 victory in the semifinal against the #1 seed Charros.

Closer Kelly Wunsch came in for the save with an huge strikeout to end the game and deliver the championship. Fellow Reds Spring teammate Zak Moyer threw solid relief for the W for ABC, and DeMarcus King went 4 innings in a rare start to keep the powerful Rays lineup off-balance.

2024 Spring Champions - Zephyrs

The 3-seed Zephyrs (17-4) won all 5 of their playoff games, walking-off the 6-seed Quesos in the opening round, sweeping the 2-seed Mudcats in the semis, and sweeping the previously unbeaten Thunder (18-2-1) to claim the 2024 CTBL Championship! This is the 3rd Zephyr title in the last 7 Spring/Summer seasons, but first since 2018.

Sunday/Wednesday game 1 (Zephyrs 8 - 5 win) -- Sunday play was suspended due to heavy rain and resumed on Wednesday night. The visiting Zephyrs led 6 to 3 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Thunder immediately scored when play resumed, making it 6 to 5. Each squad's pitching and defense dominated the next 7 innings, particularly first year Zephyr, Kooper, striking out 8 and earning the 4 inning save as the Zephyrs won 8 to 5.

Sunday Game 2 (Zephyrs 5 - 4 win) -- The Thunder scored first but that was all they got against long-time Zephyr ace, Kevyn, who put together a 1 run, 6 inning, 3 hit, 7 strikeout gem. After 6 innings, the Zephyrs led 5 to 1. The Thunder came back, scoring in the 7th and 8th innings. In the top of the 9th, Zephyrs leading 5 to 4, the Thunder had the tying run on 2nd base and go-ahead run on 1st base when Zephyr closer, Carson, struckout the final Thunder batter.

2023 Spring Champions - Austin Reds

The Austin Reds held off a furious Zephyr rally and won the CTBL Spring 2023 Championship with a 9-8 victory today in the rubber match of the 3-game series.  The Zephyrs worked their way back from a 9-4 deficit and had the tying run on 2nd with 1 out, but Kelly Wunsch slammed the door with 2 strikeouts, earning the multi-inning Save.  Brandon Landreth, Reds manager, was happy with the title after coming up short in the last two finals series.
